Blue, comfortably nestled between the two Marines, is an improvised explosive device detection dog. His trainer, Lance Cpl. Jarrett Hatley, under the Redskins blanket, and the rest of the squad, have been clearing out compounds with members of the Afghan National Army.

I came across this image while researching for a clients project. It hit me right between the eyes – it’s such a powerful image that resonates, or should resonate with anyone viewing it.
Two young kids, 19 and 21 respectively, and their dog, completely exhausted after a hard and dangerous day clearing explosives.
Because young men like these do what they do, we live safely, empowered to do what we do.
